description: As the first part of DNvorscher software a script was developed that could do whois queries and that looks for the ownership and dns of a domainname. This script searches all whois data of 2 and 3 character domainnames with .com extensions. It also gives the possibility of doing a search on dns and to show which sites are on a particular server, giving an insight in possible multiple domain ownerships.

name: interactive flash map
date: 25 jan 2005
type: flash projector
description: As part of the DNvorscher software the data from the dnsvorscher database was used to create an abstract map that gives a picture of the non sites of domain squatters and how they have started to dominate the landscape of the internet. The green blocks in this map represent the physical locations of domainnames on servers with one (unique) owner, the black blocks represent constellations of physical locations of domainnames of by squatters. *Note: this map uses the dnsvorscher script as the basis for information gathering. Consequently, it only gives an idea of 2- 3 characters domainnames.

typogenerator

name: typogenerator
date: 27 april 2006
type: typogenerator script
description: creates a list of domainname typos for a domainname input.
explanation: Typo, or misspelled, domain names gained more and more attention after squatters realized most people just type in the name of a site and easily make a mistake when they type. Especially misspelled sites of very populair sites have nowadays a value of their of own. One example: download.com is one of the most populair software download sites of the internet. People that want to download something fast and want to go to this site easily seem to make a type mistake, ie downlaod.com. The last one was sold last year (together with donwload.com and dawnload.com) for $204.000 and is nowadays just there to make money by surfers clicking on links.
